Re: Recommeded logging mode

There isn't any best logging method. You may want to consider several factors when choosing the right logging mode for your system Unbuffered ---------- In Unbuffered logging, all transactions are written to disk immediately follows the statement COMMIT WORK. Therefore, provide more effective and reliable recovery in case of a crash/abrupt shutdown of your system. This mode is best used in an environment where: * Unreliable/interruptible power supply exists. * the need for effective/reliable data recovery is essential Note: Because of its versatility, this mode is the most commonly used logging mode around. Buffered -------- Completed transactions are stored in logical log buffer after COMMIT WORK - will be written to disk only when the buffer is full/a convenient time. This mode offers a slight performance advantage over Unbuffered Logging. ANSI ---- Don't know too much about ANSI logging. What I know about ANSI mode is that it issues implicit BEGIN WORK. All transactions are UNBUFFERED. Pick one, based on your need & environment.
