Role utilisation problem

Hello, I have a problem with the utilisation of the roles with Informix-Online DS 7.23.UC4. Some roles have been defined and as the documentation explains, the grant instruction is not enough for the granted user to get the permissions (like oracle). He will have to run the set role instruction in the SQL statement. But, the users use client report tools like brio query or information access where they can't add an sql statement. So those users can never be really granted with the roles permissions. Informix tech-support told me that this is a feature request that is being studied at the moment. They don't know if they will develop this feature. Did somebody ever experience this kind of problem ? What workaround have you found ? Thanks for your help.
