OS: HP-UX 11.0 Compiler: gcc 2.95.2 Perl: v5.6.0 DBI: 1.13 DBD: 1.00.PC1 (Informix) All installations go well until the DBD installation checks the environment. It seems that I am not able to successfully compile an ESQL/C program. I get the following error message from the gcc compiler: gcc: +Ofastaccess: No such file or directory gcc: +DS2.0: No such file or directory gcc: +DA2.0W: No such file or directory If anyone has a clue why this is happening, I would greatly appreciate the assistance. -Jon Small

This isn't really the correct forum for the question -- there is a specific mailing list for asking such questions (dbi-users@isc.org, with a web site http://www.isc.org/dbi-lists.html for subscriptions). The problem appears to be that the ESQL/C script automatically supplies some options which apply to the HP ANSI C compiler, and that GCC does not recognize those options. As the README file for DBD::Informix states, you must be able to compile and run simple ESQL/C programs before you try building DBD::Informix. You have a few options: * Buy, install and use the HP ANSI C compiler * Hack the ESQL/C compiler script, esql, to eliminate those weird options when gcc is in use * Hack the esqlcc Perl script distributed with DBD::Informix to eliminate those weird options when gcc is in use (and you'd probably need to hack esqlld too). -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
