Subject: Problem with Sqlexecd..
Dear Freinds
I have upgraded the Informix Online and Istar from 5.02 to 5.08UD1 =
version which compiled on SCO3.2.5 and I followed and implemented the =
scripts as suggested by Mr. Alejandro which was mentioned below..=20
but We are facing the same problems.=20
Now, We have informix online 5.08.UD1 with Istar ver of 5.08.UD1
on SCO UNIX 5.0 operating system and client side I-net 5.01 ver 5.0
91/96 on windows for workgroups3.11.
=20
If we run the ilogin from the client side trying to connect to the =
database it is
comming out by 387 ( no connect permission )error even if the perticular
user ( eg: informix got DBA permission on perticular database) got DBA
permission on the perticular database..If we give a grant connect
permission to public then we are able to connect to the database..And
second problem is We open the database with pwerbuilder 5.0 tables are
listing with ower name ( eg: xxx.tablename ) even if the ower of table
is opens also.
And another problem is that if we login through powerbuilder After we =
open database at backend through using sqlexecd deomon If check for =
users through tbstat -u the Online is showing the powerbuilder users =
as root and tty is like - we are not able to see by user name sample =
tbstat -u is follows...=20
RSAM Version 5.08.UD1 -- On-Line -- Up 02:44:59 -- 9712 Kbytes

Actually the perticular user(pid =3D 852) was loged in through =
powerbuilder we cannot find out the perticular user is who unless by =
executing the sqlexecd deomon manually .. =20
If we kill the process of sqlexecd and reexecute it manually then we are
able to connect to the database without anyproblem and even if we were
not given any grant connect permission to the public..In the second
case if we open the database with pb5.0 the tables are listing without
the owner name.=20
we want the solution for this problem by excute the sqlexecd by unix
init programme and do not want to give grant connect permission to
public ..

Hi Rama,
For the case I have to tell you the same issue about your
products. The MOST IMPORTANT NOTE, I checked your products=20
and S/Ns and all of them are compiled for SCO 3.2.4.2 and you=20
are using those under SCO 3.2.5. This installation is UNSUPPORTED
for us and you HAVE to make an upgrade to the right Informix and=20
OS version. Please contact your dealer to place an order for
the latest Informix OnLine / STAR version for SCO 3.2.5,=20
don't forget OnLine / STAR MUST be the same version.
We have installed and running OnLine/STAR 5.08.UD1 and the
sqlexecd deamon starts automatically every time the system
reboot.
Our configuration :
.- We have a file called /etc/istar.sh :
#!/bin/csh
# Please see the /etc/rc.nfs to start the daemon
# Informix 5.08.UD1
# You have to be root to run it.
#
setenv TBCONFIG "tbconfig.salsa508"
setenv INFORMIXDIR /products/5.08.UD1setenv SQLEXEC $INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlturbo
set path =3D ($INFORMIXDIR/bin $path)
$INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexecd onl508_salsa -l
$INFORMIXDIR/onl508_salsa.sqlexecd.log
.- We called/run this file from /etc/nfs script, we added it after
the /etc/pcnfsd "fi" :
.......
pcnfsd &
}
fi
.....
if [ -x /etc/istar.sh ]
then
/bin/echo ""
/bin/echo "Starting sqlexecd daemon, onl508_salsa. OL 5.0x"
/bin/echo ""
/etc/istar.sh
fi
......
Tips :
.- is Informix STAR installed after OnLine.
.- Are the Informix OnLine / STAR the same version.
.- Are the sqlturbo permissions and owner right ? must be
-rwxr-xr-x 1 informix informix 455539 Sep 23 09:54 sqlexecd
-rwsr-sr-x 1 root informix 1566466 Sep 23 09:54 sqlturbo
I'm closing this case.
Thanks,
Alejandro Rodriguez,
Tech Support Engineer
