ESQL/C Windows Connectivity Problems
Posted in 1995
Hi Guys, we encountered some general problems with Informix clients from the PC using the server on a UNIX box: The problem is that connections remain open when they should not: 1) The application on the PC having a connection to the Informix-DB on the UNIX-server dies for some reason. The DB-Connection still stays open! The Informix-DLL does not recognize that the application has died! 2) Windows dies -> the DB-connections of the Windows-applications still remain. 3) The PC is rebootet. Same thing. We are using Informix 6.0 on the Unix-box (Solaris) and ESQL/C for Windows/I-Net 5.01.WF2 on the PCs. My question: What can be done to automatically remove DB-connections from PC-applications that are no longer running? I can't believe that there are no mechanisms to automatically eliminate these connections! Any info is welcome.
