Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Someone (posting as Obnoxio The Clown) questioned odd read-ahead statistics on an IDS instance, where the "RA-pgsused" counter looked wildly out of line with the ixda-RA/idx-RA/da-RA counters. Suggestions included comparing against sysmaster:sysprofile, a counter rolling over negative, or stats simply not having been reset for a long time. The poster later reported being told it may be a bug in the Time Series DataBlade, which increments RA-pgsused but not the other counters; this was never confirmed. A follow-up post asked unanswered questions about TimeSeries/Real Time Loader manuals, container free space and why IDS must be bounced on schema changes.

I doubt it, I have much larger numbers on the same IDS and O/S
they would need to be a loonngg way out of kilter to go negative.
ixda-RA idx-RA da-RA RA-pgsused

Or maybe stats have not been reset in a long time.
Since the Clown is so vague, we will never know.
How long is that piece of string?

It's green and made of cotton. Does that help? :op
I've just spoken to a wise man. It turns out that it MIGHT be a bug in the
Time Series DataBlade, which increments the counter "RA-pgsused" but NOT
the other counters.
So there!

To paraphrase Lord Birkenhead, he may indeed have been none the wiser, but
he *would* have been better informed!

And it still wouldn't have helped!

1. Does anyone here use Timeseries and real time loader apart from that
clown?
2. Where are the manuals?
3. Why does IDS need to be bounced when using Real Time Loader when the
table schema changes or the table storage gets moved
(sbspace/dbspace??).
4. I understand Timeseries uses dbspaces (up to 32Gb max) and
'containers'
inside sbspaces. How do I see the free space in a container since
onstat -d showsthe dbspace/sbspace (can't remember which) as full?
