Stored Procedure calling a script calling a report... PROBLEM

I've had a fair bit of success in running system commands from stored
procedures. I have system commands that call s shell scripts and the
shell script execute programs written in ESQL. These programs add and
insert data, create tables, etc. BUT now I have run into a problem.
I tried to do a SP that calls a shell script that runs a report. All
goes well unless the report needs to output something. thene I get this
error
668: System command cannot be executed.
167: ISAM err: BLOBpage size is not multiple of PAGESIZE.
I don't actually set page size in the report.
The shell script works fine when called from the command line
The report works fine when called from the sp via the script if no
output eventuates
I am running SE 7.2 under AIX 4.3
Amny pointers as to what could be wrong would be appreceiated!
