Re: Can't authenticate to Online: password incorrect?
Posted in 1997
Hi all,
I've been having similar problems with my Windows NT server since it refused
to boot after upgrading to 4.0.(yah Microsoft easy upgrade path huh?)
dbschema gives me this error message when I try to dump a databases schema.
Names have been altered to protect the server.
Client host or user (<myAdminAccount>@<mydomain.com>) is not trusted by the
server.
I had to do a clean install of NT4.0, reinstall Informix 7.12 TC5, webserer,
add nausea. When I tried to restore from our backup , it refused (some problem
with the dbspace sizes) so I hacked the dbspace settings so they matched the
old server and restored the database ( ack!). I then dumped the schema and
data and reinstalled (I didn't want to be running with a hacked system!).
Sometime between then and now the database server started refusing to trust
the adminstrator and informix account when it comes to running dbschema
dbexport/import or backing up the database server. The strange part of this
story is that I can login with dbaccess without any problems. I think my
problem might be releated. I would try this on my machine but...
1) I'ts also a web server,We have tons of IP addresses assigned to it, do I
need to add them all? I probably resinsalled the webserver and added the IP
addresses after reinstalling the database server and dumping all of the data.
(is that when it broke?)
2) where would I create the hosts.equiv file under NT4.0?
Also... Whats up with backup and restore? is it just making a big binary image
copy of the dbspace? If so I guess I need to record the size on the dbspaces
on the server so it will match if the *&^%$ hits the fan. Thats not really a
backup it's more like a copy! Is there any server independent way of backing
up the data other than dbexport/dbimport?
Thanks,
Scott
