need help on connect CLI
Hello, I have some problem. I am using a informix workgroup server 7.12 which is bundled with Netscape Enterprise Server 2.0 and Livewire Pro. I am using a Informix-CLI 2.5 to connect the client machine (Chinese Windows 98 as OS) to the informix workgroup server 7.12. It can connect if the informix server and the workstation is on the same network. If the workstation and the informix server is on the different network, the workstation cannot connect to the informix server. I use the iLogin to test the connection of the informix server and the workstation. Error message -930 is prompted which state that the workstation can not locate the dbserver. The TCP/IP stack is ok since i can access the internet and ping the informix server. I am using the same installation procedure on the 2 workstations. Do I need a special setting on the informix CLI or on the informix server if the workstation and the informix server is on the different network? The 2 different networking is connected by 2 network card in the Novell Serve. I set this Novell Server as a router to route the IP. I am much appreciate with your kindly help. Thanks in advance! A different network or a different sub-net? My PC is on sub-net x.x.158 my server on subnet x.x.8 and I have no trouble at all talking to the servers. We have an entry in /etc/networks for the main net (x.x) domain. Perhaps that is what is missing. Art S.
