Web enable the database

Hi, I am looking for solutions to web enable a SE 7.24 UC? informix database. What are the available options ? Would a combination of a Linux IIF 2000 front end with web.4.00.UC1 webdatablade to the SE back end work ? The platform is IBM RS-6000 AIX. Has someone gone thru a aimilar effort ? Your input is much appreciated. Thanks Ram S. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
Well, I haven't GONE through it enirely yet but going through it right now. Obviously there are several solutions. If you go the IIF way you will not need SE. IIF uses IDS as the engine. In that case the Web DataBlade is one of the ways to do it. JAVA/JDBC is another. If you want to keep SE you could get the PERL extensions and write CGI scripts with PERL. Depending on how big your project is and what resources you have CGI scripting could take a very long time. "They" say that using the Web Datablade is much faster, but everytime I hear someone tell me that "you don't have to write code" I know what they're really telling me is, "you'll need to write code." I'm planning on doing a bit of both. I have just given three suggestions...there are many more approaches. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!

You can user Chimera or Arachne, which would web enable any applications written in 4GL. The database can be SE, Online or Oracle. The database is populated through some other 3rd party s/w. I am looking to utilize the data and make it available on the web. I would imagine that the database would continue to be populated using the 3rd party tools. This is a new prospect to me and I will know more after I have some more discussions. At this point I am not sure if IIF 2000 would even communicate with the Standard Engine 7.24 Informix. I think it should. Or am I imagining too much ?
