Re: informix and oracle

Hi everybody, our company is developing software under UNIX/C and Informix. We have experience with several Informix-releases. Most of them are good, especially Informix-Online 7 (Informix 4 and 5 has serious problems with Index-access, the optimizer is very poor in this releases. Allthough we plan to migrate our application to oracle, because of two main reasons: 1. The future of Informix is uncertain. 2. We don't want depend on one single DB-Company (pricing!) 3. We look for a faster Support in case of problems. We have no experience with oracle at all, but we will do first testing in January 98.
