tbcheck -pe / Extents overlap

I have a problem with Informix Online 5.00.UC2 on a Linux RedHat 5.1 System using iBCS. When I first tried to use tbcheck -pe, the program listed all TBLSpaces with more than 8 extents, but finally terminated with an error message like could not access /tmp/pid.EXTENTS. After examining /tmp, I realized, that tbcheck crated files like pid.extent, with pid the actual PID of tbcheck. Therefore I patched the tbcheck binary (altering the string "EXTENTS" to "extents"). Now tbcheck -pe reacts simmilar to the version on a Unixware System. But now, I get strage ERROR messages, which say "ERROR: Extents overlap", however I could not see any overlapping extents (see end of mesage). There are many errors (ca. 560) like this in the whole Database. Did my patch break tbcheck, is tbcheck buggy, or did I do any other mistake ? Is there a way, to get rid of overlapping extexts, if there are any ?
