You know, I get a little tired of some of the claims I read in sales propaganda and the supposed unbiased trade reports. Oracle claims to have invented row level locking, according to some of the stuff I've read, but they didn't. If memory serves, Informix had this feature years back - long before the big O started to make a splash. Ingres was there first with a distributed product and data replication, but you'd never know it from the way you see some other folks crowing about it! Fortunately, my rule of thumb has been to take what I read in some sources with a large helping of salt.
