Re: Only CAPITAL Usernames for granting access under SE / UW2.x

Vasu,
You probably have a MODE ANSI database and you are probably not quoting the
user names. Under those circumstances, the database must store the user
name (authentication identifier or AuthID in Standard-speak) in upper case
in order to meet ANSI requirements.
Fix:
GRANT SELECT ON Table TO 'user';
Use single quotes in preference to double quotes.
This is discussed in the manuals (eg p1-305 of the 7.1 Informix Guide to
SQL: Syntax, under the section on GRANT).

}I have a question concerning Informix SE under UnixWare 2.x:
}
}Whenever I try to grant access to a database and the tables for other
}users (gid=informix), the usernames are saved in CAPITAL letters in
}the system dbs.
}This results to that the lowercase login users are not allowed to access
}the database - in essence *all* users - (No, read-write permissions for
}the .dbs and .log are ok for gid=informix), whereas for users with
}capital login names everything works fine !!
}
}What kind of bullsh*t is this ? Is this the same for all SE platforms ?
}
}Ok, I made a nice little patch for myself which tolower() 's all
}usernames in the system dbs and that works ok, but I wonder that there is no patch
}available for this. At least my informix dealer knew nothing about this.
}
}BTW: Are there any patches available for the SE/UW2.x, and if yes where ?
