NOC center and monitoring Informix IDS 10.00 or gr
Posted in 2010
A DBA wanted a NOC-style display/monitoring solution for IDS 10, since Intermapper only checks that the TCP listener is up and OAT doesn't support IDS 10. Suggestions included ServerStudio/Sentinel (rejected as it lacks NOC displays), and, more usefully, Nagios — a link to a community-written Informix Nagios plugin was shared, and others confirmed Nagios works with IDS. It was also noted that IDS ships SNMP MIBs and an SNMP daemon, so any SNMP-capable tool (e.g. What's Up, Nagios) can monitor it. The poster was pursuing Nagios; no final outcome reported.

Good morning, Do any of you have a Network Operation Center or NOC display and monitoring center? Do you have a solution that monitoring Informix and processes? I currently have Intermapper, but it doesn't have any probe for Informix IDS. It can tell me if Informix has a TCP listener up and running, but it doesn't have anything more than an uptime monitor probe. Any suggestions for a NOC solution for monitoring Informix? (I can't use OAT, I have IDS 10, OAT will not work for that version of IDS). Thanks in Advance. Not in front of any systems with Informix, but doesn't IDS (used to) have a subdir with SNMP mibs and it's own snmp daemon?
