Your best bet is to get ODBC/UDBC (I don't realy know the difference between these) for Linux from OpenLink. That should give you the connectivity you want to an Informix database on another server. They also have JDBC drivers that may be used in a similar way if your web soulutions are Java based. I have not tested any of these solutions yet. :As for a Linux port, even if Informix Corp can't see the need for a Linux :port, I would suggest that the scenario I have outlined above would be very :commonplace. Many companies will be trying to get access to corporate :databases which run on their servers, however it is unlikely that their :web servers can or should run the same DB. Lots of web servers are Linux/Apache :based, why on earth should you need to change this to gain access to :a remote DB??? You are obviously right. Informix should enter into some kind of relationship with OpenLink to be able to resel proper connectivity software for this as well as most other ODBC related purposes.
