We never had problems with INFORMIX on UNIXWARE. Had +- 65 Gig on one box, 40 Gig on another where 23 out of 24 hours busy, never ever lost any data in 2 years. Never use Vol Manager, we used RAW disks. Corrupt data ?. Perhaps !@#$ hardware. U only have 2 options on INTEL Unixware 7x, Not 2x because not supported any more. Solaris x86. Never worked with it. LINUX. But is IDS available ?. I think NO. SCO UNIX 5.x. Last version of SCO. Wont be supported any more. Anybody with more options ? -----Original Message----- From: Gary Quiring [SMTP:gquiring@netlabs.net] Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2000 5:58 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: SCO Open Server and Informix 7.3 - How far can I go with this platform?? The problem was my server has 4 gig of memory. SCO OpenServer 5.0.5 was allocating too many PLOWBUFS in the 16mb area due to the large memory. Even setting PLOWBUFS to 1% caused too much memory usage in that 16mb area. They supplied me with a new memory manager from their 5.0.6 kernal which has solved the problem. The company we bought our Informix apps from is not recommending Unixware, they claim it has problems with the volume manager and Informix - corrupt data. I would love to find a premier Intel UNIX OS that was well supported by Informix. Gary Quiring

Um, actually, YES! Indeed Linux is a Tier I platform, SCO is TIER II! > SCO UNIX 5.x. Last version of SCO. Wont be supported any more. > Anybody with more options ? -- Art S.
