How do I set LTAPEDEV in onconfigure.ifmx in order to direct ontape to
backup logical logs to files instead of a tape station?
--Patrik
Hi Patrik
Basically, you just want to touch a file in the directory where you want to
store your logical logs (be sure to give privalages as user and group
informix with read, write privalages at least) and in your onconfig file
give it the location to that file. This file gets rather large quite fast
if your database is very active ... I basically specify 2GIGs for the size
of the logical logs but its really your choice (LTAPESIZE).
You can always null the file out when it gets to be to big. With this new
setting, you will have to perform a continuous logical log backup or else,
once all your logs are full your server will ask for a logical log backup
before it continues to accept any more transactions which basically puts a
freeze to everything.

Lloyd Aj Wilson.
