You might want to take a look at "Guide to Informix MaxConnect " http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/informix/pubs/library/interim/6678-pdf.html section MaxConnect Benefits in the MaxConnect Overview chapter. You can get performance improvements starting with 200 connections. Helen "Mark D. You would look at using MaxConnect if you had 1000's of users and suffered from performance issues, particularly with connection speeds. Also areas like network performance/bandwidth problems. MaxConnect will multiplex connections to the database, so cutting down on actual connections. You need to be careful how you set it up, in terms of where MaxConnect is installed. To my mind it is going to be of more benefit on the app server rather than on the DB server, BYMMV. > Basic info ----- > > OS: AIX 4.3.3 > IDS: 9.30.uc2 > 12 CPU > Single NIC > 6 gig memory Thanks for supplying the info.
