Re: 4gl and MS Word

Hi: I'm using PCL overlays from www.visual.co.uk product Forms Electric. US$75.'' . The licencse is for the PC generating the Macro no for end-users or servers. It's a great product BUT you need to create the overlay in a Windows 95/98/Me machine (no NT,200,XP). You can use your favorite program (Corel, Word, Photopaint, etc) send to a HP PCL5 or PCL5e printer (NO PCL6), the program captures the output and generates the OVL file wich can copy to your 4GL server (linux/aix,solaris,etc). In your 4gl code you only need a simple escape sequence to load the page (in every page header ). You can use diferent overlays for odd/even pages. The spped is almost the same because the overlay is send only once to the printer and stored as a macro in the printer memory.
