How to connect to a database from vb

I'm using WinNT 4.0 both, and i had to install the client software from informix at the workstation (CLI 2.5 was the version i tried). Then i took the 'ODBC administrator 32' and could define a system DSN. I have configured it as in Setnet32, then it worked. I can use Access and Delphi to connect to the database. I dont know how it is to connect to a unix-server with odbc, since i'm using only NT.
