Re: ISA does not find server after installing apache on solaris...

Hi Listers, I received the following advice from P. Watson. Please clarify how I tell Apache that cgi-bin is execute and return content. I perused the httpd.conf for the bundled Apache that I was using before, when I first installed ISA, but I don't find any parameter that seems to provide this instruction to Apache. Let me provide some additional information to help you in your recommendations. ISA was installed first with the bundled Apache http server and Perl distribution. ISA worked fine right away wihout changing anything in the Apache configuration. Recently, I downlaoded, Big Brother System Monitor and DBAmonitor in an effore to improve our system monitoring. The documentation said that it a Web server was required, so I downloaded and installed Apache. After compiling and configuring Big Brother, I was able to get the BB web pages displayed on my Win95 PC browser. Of course, configured and started the new Apache http server to use for BB. When I tried to access the ISA home page as I used to before, the browser on my Win95 client could not find the page. I renamed the index.html for apache and copied the index.html for ISA in the DocumentDir for Apache. I created a link to the ISA directory in the DocumentDir for Apache. After, I was able to display the ISA home page in my PC browser; however, the browser asks me if I want to download the .pl file instead of executing it when I click on a CGI link. Below are the links in Apache's DocumentDir: bbankmain{bbmon}/usr/local/apache/htdocs>ls -l total 22 -rw-r--r-- 1 bin bin 2326 Jul 3 1996 apache_pb.gif lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 22 Nov 24 13:25 bb -> /sfw/bigbro/bb15d3/www lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 36 Nov 24 16:15 cgi-bin -> /sfw/bigbro/bb1 5d3/www/httpd/cgi-bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 1758 Nov 27 10:20 index.html -rw-r--r-- 1 bin bin 1622 May 20 1998 index.html.apache lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 8 Nov 27 12:41 isa -> /sfw/isa drwxr-xr-x 7 bin bin 1024 Nov 24 10:20 manual Thanks for your help Denmark W. > You need to look into the script info for apache, basically > you need to tell Apache that /cgi-bin is execute commands > and just return the content, AFAIR its scriptalias or something > similar, if you still have your original hpptd.conf it's in > there.
