My intent was to have two 'names' (INFORMIXSERVER values) for the shared memory connection, so that purpose of the shared memory connection could be infered from the connection name ('cockpit', vs. 'fourgen'). The manual seemed to imply that this was possible, but it would appear that the terminology in that chapter was a little vague, or my vocabulary was a bit poor. I took 'database server' to mean 'dbservername', rather than the physical host machine. Thanks to all who straightened me out and helped me brush up my terminology. The word for the day is "Duh". -- +--------------------------------------------+--------------------+ | Schuyler L.
