HP-UX 11.31 on PA-RISC (I know, dead-end hardware)
Informix 11.50.FC6 (I know, EOL)
Genero 2.50.46 (I know, needs to be upgraded)
Our application received number a -908 Attempt to connect to database server
(servername) failed, followed by a reason -107 ISAM error: record is locked.
I've never seen that combination before.
What is it that is locked? Is it saying that someone has issued a "LOCK
DATABASE xyz;" statement? Is the tablespace page for the database locked for ainstant for some reason? Or the row in the sysusers table for that user in
that database? Is there something else that is locked?
This has only happened once that we have seen, but we did have a high volume
of users online at the time.
Mark, I have seen this several times before ... client receives a -908 connection failure along with lock error. While the -908 was/is legitimate the lock error is the result of who knows what as I doubt a lock had anything to do with the -908. There is also this tech doc that also mentions this scenario which kinds of indicates that IBM is aware of the issue. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21635660 Mark
