Re: Network Appliance

We use it w/ IDS and Unixware 7 (<- no good) and NT. Forget about
snapxyz,
you can only use it with the instance in quiescent mode or down. Once
you
made snapxyz you can restore it but you can't restore logs, because you
have to restore with ontape to be able to restore logs. Its really of
no use at all with Informix.
Also, snapcopy (which we use sometimes), keeps a kind of diff of your
files, the more they change, the larger your snapcopy grows. When
restoring your IDS instance from snapcopy you will need 2 x it's
original
size.
Otherwise (performance, reliability, etc) we're happy with it. Been
running for a few weeks now and plan to go live soon. Avoid Unixware
like the plague in conjunction with NetApp though. On second thought,
avoid Unixware like the plague for anything.
