Hello everbody I want to configure ISM to every day recycle de volumes or backups. I tried but the system did not clean de volumes diaries. I used the following statements: SM_DISKDEV1=/opt/informix/backups/dbspaces SM_DISKDEV2=/opt/informix/backups/logfiles SM_DISKDEV3=/opt/informix/backups/bootstrap ism_add -device $SM_DISKDEV1 -type file ism_add -device $SM_DISKDEV2 -type file ism_add -device $SM_DISKDEV3 -type file ism_op -label $SM_DISKDEV1 -pool ISMDiskData -volume ISMData ism_op -label $SM_DISKDEV2 -pool ISMDiskLogs -volume ISMLogs ism_op -label $SM_DISKDEV3 -pool ISMDiskBoot -volume ISMBoot ism_config -volume ISMData -recycle auto ism_config -volume ISMLogs -recycle auto ism_config -volume ISMBoot -recycle auto ism_config -retention 1 ism_op -mount $SM_DISKDEV1 ism_op -mount $SM_DISKDEV2 ism_op -mount $SM_DISKDEV3 Anybody know how to clean the volumes automatics. What other things I need to configure? Thank a lots Regards Servio Velasco
What I did is a dirty solution.
Every time I want to reinitialize an onbar cycle, I rm -fr ism
configuration directory and reinitiate ism using ism_startup -init.

Hi, I think you may have to use the nsradmin utility. As user root execute "nsradmin -c". I've described several times in this forum how to do this albeit some time ago now. Please check the archive for the detailed description of how to manoevre the menu. [ Select "type: NSR device", step with Next to the your device, choose Options "Hidden" and use ESC to leave. Then use Edit. ] Finally you get to a screen where you step through all the configuration items that you can change for the device. One item is "volume expiration", which you may want to look at and change.
