Hi everyone,
Host: Aix 4.3.2 (bi-processor, 500MB Ram,...)
DbServer: IDS 7.31 UC4 (on raw devices)
Sqlhosts: onsoctcp
Onconfig: see bottom
Our program (ESQL/C) continuosly runs to monitor machinery activity.
It connects & runs fine, but after a couple of days our SELECT return -1803
(Connection does not exist) |:-(
The same application is OK with a plenty of IDS/OSs, but not with this pair.
At the same time, other users work ok on db without problem.
Long connections have problems with IDS 7.31 UCx?
Thank you.
Denis.
Please, forgive my bad english...

Yes, I'm sure. No cron or job interferes with Informix engine, engine is running and other clients regularly connect. > > Host: Aix 4.3.2 (bi-processor, 500MB Ram,...) > > DbServer: IDS 7.31 UC4 (on raw devices) > > Sqlhosts: onsoctcp > > Onconfig: see bottom > > > > Our program (ESQL/C) continuosly runs to monitor machinery activity. > > It connects & runs fine, but after a couple of days our SELECT return -1803 > > (Connection does not exist) |:-( > > This may be a silly question, but are you sure that there isn't a cron job or a > system job that "bounces" your Informix instance or your server every once in a > while? > > Rudy >
How about just catching the 1803 error and performing a re-connect?
That would be a better solution in the long run anyway.
