This sounds like something we have been encountering recently. It uncovered a bug in Online (7.11 UC1 on Solaris) due to contention. We found out about the bug from Tech support last Friday, so I haven't had time to track it down, or even see if the slowdown phenomenon is related. Essentially, our process was: prepare cursor (w/hold) for most records in a 200,000 row table for each record: fetch do some processing on the record log the results in a secondary table (same primary key) (maybe) update the record with new values When we first kick off the process, we get about 5-6 rows per second throughput. After only 1 or 2 hours, this drops to about 2.5/sec, and after 10 hours, we're plodding along at 1/sec. On our development and QA environments, we were getting almost linear performance. Does this match your "slowdown" characteristics? Paul Kapp ----> PLKapp@aol.com -OR- plk@interactive.visa.com
