Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Currently we have a cron job that checks for the database every 5 minutes, in order to report to us if it is down or hung.
The sysalarm program that comes with IDS10, appears to only send an email for assert failures.
The alarmprogram.sh sends for down dbspaces and a variety of other events.
Is there anyway to catch for any other things, like blocked checkpoint, or a crash without an assert failure ?
Thanks,
floyd
Hello Floyd,
For a down system, try some logic that checks "onstat -". For a hung
system try taking a snapshot of "onstat -m". If it is the same as the
last snapshot, the system may be hung. For a blocked checkpoint try
"onstat - | grep -i block". My ideas may be off but this should get
you started. Plus your ideas will be better for your situation.
