just a selection
and I don't think that is the origine of the problem ! what do you think

Oh yes it is! Didn't I warn this list repeatedly about not running
onstat -g sql or querying sqx_sqlstatement on a busy system with multiple CPUs?Several times!
What has happened is that your query is chasing its tail forever and gathering
more and more resources to it over time until after a period of time there are
no threads left to work on anything else. Also you cannot kill or stop the
query. Even onmode -z will only detach the front end that issued the query.
The sqlexec thread will keep going until it hangs your server and you have to
shut down.
Sounds like the Classic Trek episode with Jack the Ripper doesn't it? Well it
is true! If you have an SMI system with more than one CPU (I guess that's the
definition of SMI eh) and you have more than trivial activity on the server,
DO NOT QUERY THAT TABLE. The table will grow at least as fast as the query can
read it and so the query will run forever. Remember this is not a real table
but a data structure in memory that is actually a circular list!
Why it locks up resources more and more I do not know. This is one of those
handfull of bugs I have identified over the years that Informix will not verify
because they do not have a production class machine to test on. I have
frequently suggested they test things like this on the PTS servers, the damn
things crash often enough anyway that noone would notice, and then they would
track down many more of these bugs that require a production environment and
load.
