You do have to little memory available. There is a sharp limit to have large your programs can be, and how many cursors and other things you can open. Sometimes you may be able to resort to a single select statement instead of useing a cursor. Although it is often very much slower your program may run. Any memory you can free up below 640kb will help you. Use all the awfull tricks that are available. Less than 600k of free memory we have found to be useless. Any single byte you free may help you. You *may* also be able to split your programs into overlays. There are so many problems with overlays however that I would do all I could to avoide them. (One problem is if you don't split your programs up sufficiently all you get is a program that requires even more memory.) I haven't ever rely tried the latest releases of different "intelligent" linkers for DOS, but they claim to be able to do overlays that can freely call each other. If that works it may be easier to do overlays. Go to *any* product but 4GL for DOS. Delphi, VisualBasic or possibly even NewEra comes to mind. (But no dBase compatible "database".) MS Windows is *so* much easier and better for development than DOS. Nils.Myklebust@ccmail.telemax.no NM-data, Dalsbergstien 7, N-0170 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company
