Informix ought to reply to this themselves. Have you thought of using ODBC? Yes I know the speed problems you and others have seen, but what about SQL Retriever or Openlink? Openlink has significant problems with the price of course. They don't seem to grasp that there are customers who have only a single user. May be SQL Retriever is better priced? To Informix: When will we see: 1. DLL's that are all named INFXxxxx.DLL 2. Only 1 DLL (not 2 or 3) for native connectivity. 3. A real ODBC driver at a low cost even for one single user. One that is as fast as the native driver and also requieres only one DLL. (I have hundreds of DLL's on my machine. It's a realy crazy situation.) 4. DLL's for the above that allways works, are easy to install and set up, that can connect without the Unix password maintenance problems, that support some kind of security so users can be stoped from updating the database even though they have this option when they run a program. 5. +++ I did hear from top level Informix people at the user conference that they are employing new people that has much more MS Windows experience. From all I have seen and heard it seems like Informix is in an all too common trap. They have lots of top notch developers, but they all come from the Unix world. Partly they aren't up to speed in MS Windows, and even if they are many hate or dislike it resulting in low quality products. You have to at least like the environement to make good programs for it. An yes Delphi is impressive. Think about an Informix with MS Windows gurus. The basic NewEra technology is good enough to make it an even better product (application partitioning is one key word).
