Not true. Isolation level has no effect on insert statements. There's no such thing as a
"Dirty Insert". I don't know what you mean by "validate any unique constraint
violations."

I would suggest that you are running into different problems than the one described
below. The error messages below distinctly suggest that it is NOT the index record that
is locked. "Could not do a physical-order read" means it is doing a sequential scan.
For starters, are you actually on OnLine 7.23? If you are having trouble inserting when
other users are inserting, it sounds like Adjacent Key Locking, which was re-designed and
eliminated in 6.0.

These are not all returning from the same program, are they? The first two do not sound
like they could come from an Insert statement.
