Hello, I'm wonder how odbc connection with ClientSDK can works. Yesterday, I install ClientSDK 2.50 on my computer, but don't know what DataSourceName, ServerName, HostName, Service, Protocol,Options,DatabaseName,UserId,Password, etc from ODBC driver setup card. Which file I have to look up in Unix to get those informations. If you know, pls inform me. Thanks.

Protocole is the name of transporter layer used by Informix basically ( onsoctcp or olsoctcp ). Options: personnaly I'm not a familiar with this option UserID: Username for the connection on the database Password.... Now I give you a sample configuration I would like to make a connection on the stores database. This database is on the engine installed on my computer 'world'. My INFORMIXSERVER is ol_world. I use 'turbo' ( 1528 ) as service and my protocole name is 'olsoctcp'. User 'foo' can connect on my database server. For the service you should check on the server in the services file and see if you have the same value on your client. UNIX: /etc/services NT : %windir%\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\services The value of the service port should unique in the services file. So I know: ServerName = ol_world DatabaseName = stores HostName = world Service = turbo Protocole = olsoctcp UserID = foo Password = ......... Personnally, I use INTERSOLV drivers or INFORMIX ( nativ driver ). > DataSourceName, ServerName, HostName, Service, > Protocol,Options,DatabaseName,UserId,Password, etc from ODBC driver setup > card. > Which file I have to look up in Unix to get those informations. > If you know, pls inform me. > > Thanks. -- Emmanuel Soden - es@4js.com Four J's Development Tools As an old man said ... I have never gotten this to work, Thanks Emmanuel, I was getting odbc errors, well now the test connect just goes out and the process stops responding. This on a NT box. Any ideas on where to look. I assume the server stop communicating. "Emmanuel Soden" <es@4js.com> wrote in message news:39DD9393.94659451@4js.com... > > > "Sung S.
