Re: flagship sunk

Not a technical thread at all. It's the tail end of an Oracle-vs-IBM flame about Informix's future, arguing over whether posters using personal email accounts (yahoo.com, Comcast) can speak for their employers' official positions. It quickly degenerates into off-topic joking about IBM's "official position" being missionary, cows and ex-wives. No technical problem is posed and no resolution is recorded; skip unless you want the banter.

Mark Townsend posts from Comcast. Not making statements purporting to represent the official position of Oracle. If were posting on behalf of his company I'd expect the same. -- Daniel A. Not wanting to post on someone else's behalf, but I'd be surprised if anyone here was representing the official position of IBM. When I last asked anyone from IBM what the official position was, they said "missionary." -- Bye now, Obnoxio "C'est pas parce qu'on n'a rien ' dire qu'il faut fermer sa gueule" - Coluche did i mention i like nulls? heck, i even go so far as to say that all columns in a table except the primary key could/should be nullable. this has certain advantages, for example, if you need to insert a child record and you don't have a parent row for it, just do an insert into the parent table with the primary key value (everything else null), and voila, relational integrity is preserved. but this is, admittedly, a bit controversial among modellers. --r937, dbforums.com
