<underline>Tech Specs:</underline> IDS - 7.31.UD5W5, Solaris 8
Is there a way to have a Login greater than 8 characters?
This query against the sysmaster database lists 27 tables that seem
to have char(8) for the login.
-- SQL to list probable candidates for a login column
select tabname as Table, colname as Column
from systables, syscolumns
where systables.tabid = syscolumns.tabid and
(syscolumns.colname matches "*owner*" or
syscolumns.colname matches "*user*") and
syscolumns.collength = 8;
Not that system tables should be modified :-(
Any ideas?
TIA,

The solution is to upgrade to 9.xx where database identifiers (ie database,
table, and column names) were increased from 18 characters to 128 characters
and usernames and other external identifiers were increased from 8 chars to 32
characters.
