Newbie question

PLEEEEEEASE HELP!!!! I'm trying to do a select statement in Informix SQL Editor 3.0. This is it: SELECT a.a1, b.b1, c.c1 FROM a_table a, OUTER (b_table b, c_table c) WHERE a.a1=b.b1 AND b.b1=c.c1 The SQLEditor seems to hang! Stop respoding and the only thing to do is End Task. We have tried with DBAccess and the symptoms are the same: hang! Why?? What am I doing wrong! Thank you for your time David Fernandes david@phinformatica.pt

How large are the tables in question? Are the fields indexed? If so, has update statistics been run? How is the performance on the database otherwise?
