IDS 7.31 connect Cold Fusion Server 4.5
Posted in 2000
Poster asked whether anyone had connected Allaire ColdFusion Server 4.5 to IDS 7.31 using the Informix CLI/native drivers. One respondent reported success with CF 4.01 against IDS 7.24/7.30, but only via the ODBC driver, and noted that $INFORMIXDIR/lib and $INFORMIXDIR/lib/esql must be in LD_LIBRARY_PATH. The original poster later reported it working (Solaris 7, IDS 7.3 Workgroup) with help from Allaire, posting a full working config: the CF native Informix73 data source settings, sqlhosts entry, INFORMIXDIR/INFORMIXSERVER/INFORMIXSQLHOSTS exports in the coldfusion start script, LD_LIBRARY_PATH including lib, lib/cli (libthcli.so) and lib/esql, plus a sample CFQUERY. A side question about Standard Engine got no definite answer.

Has anyone been successful connecting to IDS 7.31 via CLI drivers from Allaire's Cold Fusion Web Application Server 4.5? Kim

Lyzander, Did you setup the Informix Client SDK on the same UNIX box where your IDS resides? Does the Cold Fusion Server verify your native driver data source OR did you setup an ODBC data source and verify? I have sqlhosts setup correctly and I changed the Cold Fusion start script to point to the directory where the client sdk was installed. Yes. But it should also work with just the Client SDK installed.

I wasn't able to get the Native Driver working but the ODBC
Driver works though. Try installing the Server in the machine
just so you can use dbaccess to debug the server connection.

Oh! I forgot to add that you must include $INFORMIXDIR/lib:$INFORMIXDIR/lib/esql in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH. HTH Lyzander * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
Lyzander, Just to confirm. Are you using Online Dynamic Server and cold fusion ? I have a Standard Engine that I would like to access it from the web. Any suggestions ? Thanks Ram S. Yes, I'm using IDS. I haven't used SE but try asking Informix whether their ODBC driver works with SE (I think it should). If not, try asking other ODBC vendors.
