[Q]substr with informix PE

Hi I tried to use substr() in SQL syntax with informix PE(maybe 7.2?). But Informix said it can't find substr procedure. Why? Did I install it incorrectly? Or did I miss something on installing it? Thank you in advance.. Happy New Year!!! -hk

The substr() function is a 7.3x feature, it did not exist in 7.2x. You have to use inline substringing: SELECT somecolumn[2,6], .... The parameters are [startchar, endchar]. Art S. Kagel "H.
