1st. time create DB IDS2000-Linux

Partners: I can't access the demo databases nither create a new one...I already fixed configuration (sqlhosts, /etchost, /etc/services, etc. files) I think the problem is this: What is needed before creating a Database on Linux-IDS2000? chunks, onspaces, etc...I can't initialize shared memory (oninit -i) because the chunk can't be accessed (thats an error shown); iknow I must assign a chunk to a onspace, but how on hell can I create that chunk? Hello Jorge, After you have successfully done all of the above plus set the INFORMIXSERVER correctly, in $ONCONFIG you must create the rootdbs. This means go into your $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG file and change the path of rootdbs to point where you want it to. After that change to the directory where you want it to point to do (as user root): cat /dev/null > rootdbs chmod 660 rootdbs chgrp informix rootdbs chown informix rootdbs Next become informix and do an: oninit -iy Now check the online.log file (it also appears in the $ONCONFIG) with tail -f To confirm you are on track run the dbaccessdemo script!
