Hi, I have a SE 7.24 database on one HP server and connecting to the database from another HP server. The problem is that only one of my users gets the following error message -952 Users password is incorrect for the database server. All the other users connect successfully. I have checked the unix connection for this user ie /etc/hosts.equiv and am able to execute remote commands in unix using remsh. The sqlhosts , services and inetd.conf files are correctly configured and the user has DBA priv on the database. Can anybody help. Thanks in Advance Charles Campbell DBA First Engineering Ltd

Suppose the users login is yutz and he is on machine rover. He wants to access the database on fido. He needs to be trusted on fido for password-free access from rover. This is a Unix issue. I can be certain that if yutz is logged in to rover and types rlogin fido he will be prompted for a password. The simplest, least insecure way to do this is that yutz has an account & home directory on fido. In yutz's home directory, have a file named .rhosts (dot required) . In that file, have the following line: rover yutz Now, if yutz tries to rlogin from rover to fido, there will be no password prompt. And the informix connection (like a cross-server join) will also run without a hitch. There are other methods of establishing trust. Get the MAN page for .rhosts for more info. -- Jake the Verbose -- +----- Jacob Salomon - DBA JSalomon@bn.com - --------------------------+ |------------------- Bulletin Board Announcement ----------------------| | Congregants will please note that the bowl at the back of the church | | bearing the sign "For the Sick" is for monetary contributions only. | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
