No Rewind devices for Onbar on AIX

I am currently implementing Onbar on AIX 4.3.2. I have been using a no-rewind special device name (/dev/rmt0.1) to send output to. Onbar doesn't ever seem to find the end of the tape! Could someone using AIX and Onbar to tape share the device they are specifying? TIA Dave Thacker Omni Hotels Reservation Center
I don't use onbar, just little old ontape, but as far as I know "Informix"
never does see the end of the tape......that's why you tell it how big the
tape is. When or if it gets to the size you specified it stops. Since I
don't use onbar and know very little about it I may be way off here but I
also thought that using the no-rewind device was not advisable because it
renders the backup useless since there is no way to tell where any given
backup job ends and the next begins.
Hope I'm not full of it...........
