Re: Trouble in INFORMIXSERVER

Linda One problem could be that the database name is hardcoded in the application, so when you set up your new Y2K instance it is looking for the old database name for resolving declarations that are "LIKE tablename.columnname". You could find the database name by looking at the old (non-Y2K certified) application's database. Since you are compiling the source, you could also look at the source code to see where the compile is failing and go from there. Alternatively you could either read the manuals that came with the application (if they exist) or do a "strings programname.4ge" to see the database name from executable if the executable is not stripped. They bought this package from a vendor that no longer supports it. The problem we are having is that we can't compile when the program accesses a database. The first problem we had was that there was no SQLHOSTS file. The DBA set one up, but now we get the error that the INFORMIXSERVER variable is not set. We know how to set the variable, but the dba does not know what it should be set to (I don't believe he set the sqlhost file up correctly either). Is there any place we could go to find out what the variable value should be? -**** Posted from RemarQ, http://www.remarq.com/?b ****- Real Discussions for Real People
