Re: Newbie question: Informix SE on Linux

I did compile my kernel with ipc support, so that wasn't the source of the problem. I followed your suggestion and read the release notes, though, which says only "sesoctcp" is supported on Linux. Then I saw another posting saying "seipcpip" works if you put the exact output of "uname -a" in the hostname part of the sqlhosts file. I tried it out and now it works perfectly. What puzzles me is that the SE DBA manual on the Informix web site suggests that the hostname does not matter for seipcpip connections. I wonder if this behavior is specific to Linux or is the same on all Unix. How about update the documentation and add seipcpip support to the release notes? -Yun Marco Greco wrote: > > Relink your kernel with System V ipc support enabled, and ipcpip will work. > (yes, I have read the release notes, but do it all the same, will you? :-) > > Ciao, > Marco > ______________________________________________________________________________ > Marco Greco <marco@informix.com> Standard disclaimers apply! > > Informix faq http://www.iiug.org/techinfo/faq/informix.htm > 4glworks http://www.ctonline.it/~marcog > Informix on Linux http://www.ctonline.it/~marcog/ifmxlinux.htm
