RE: Shared memory issue
Posted in 1999
I desperately need help on this issue. Here is more information:
We are using Informix 7.23uc3 in Sun Solarus 2.5.1.
We have script to run everynight to shutdown Informix and bring up with
different configuration. The script is like this:
onmode -kysleep 15
ONCONFIG=onconfig.prd2export ONCONFIG
oninit
The same script was running fine for last two years. There are no memory
change and no configuration file change. But suddenly we got error as "out
of shared memory" once everyweek and the DB didn't not come back. I check
the shared memory with "ipcs" command and didn't see anything there. But
when I tried to bring it up manually, I got the same error. After the SA
rebooted the machine, all the memory reclaimed back but the DB crashed.
Informix engineer dialed-in and could not bring the system up. I had to
restore from backup tape everytime which took 10 hours. The database is
about 300GB total now. We just added 120GB.
What possible went wrong with this situation?
