ontape -a locking system

I
am having issues with a database server that is running ontape for the
backups. The current issue that I am having is that the "log_full.sh"
is using the "ontape -a" command. Here is the command as used in the
log_full.sh:
ontape -a 2>&1 >> /dev/null
It creates a new file for the new logs before running the ontape -a
command. I am wondering if it is getting hung up when it asks if you
want to backup the current log file.
Does anyone have any ideas?
This is on AIX 5.2, running 9.40.UC2.

ontaperequires input from the keyboard so you must provide that input.
ontape -a < /home/informix/llog.txt >/dev/null 2>&1
Where llog.txt contains a number of enter keystrokes

You should use a script like
ontape -a <<EOF 2>&1 >> /LOGS/logbackup
n
EOF
Using this script, you answer NO to backup of the current log.
In Addition you should cut the lognumber from the alarmprogram and then
move the File named in LTAPEDEV to log.<number>
After this, you have to touch the Fiel named in LTAPEDEV, change owner and
group to informix and mode to 660 for the next log to become full.
