Joining two fields in two seperate tables

Fisrt of all I think this group is great, I hope in the future I will be able to contribute some knowledge to it. My Problem: I have two tables and I want to combine them with a join (I guess) In table(1) I have a field called [desc] In table(2) I have a field called [extdesc] I want to make [desc] & [extdesc] into one field in a third table. It have to keep the first two tables set up because it is updated periodically. The info in table one contains information describing parts in a MRPII system (i.e. part#, weight, uom, description). The info in table two contains information for extended description of parts in table one. I am uploading this information from the underlying mrpii data files which are seperated into two files. I need the data to produce a catalog in FrameMaker. My intention is to have a single Informix table containing Part#, weight, UOM, Description (a combination of [desc] & [extdesc].
