IDS 7.30.FC7 on Compaq Tru64 4.0F (was Digital UNIX). In our attempt to make the great leap forward from onTape to onBar with Informix Storage Manager we have been experiencing some pain. A simple level 0 backup and restore to/from disk based volumes works fine. Using 4mm DAT tape appears to backup OK, but an attempt at a full cold level-0 restore gives "Unable to read record 0 of file 2" in ISM and the restore fails. We have experimented on three separate AlphaServers with the same result on each. From posts to this group it seems like most people get on OK with onBar. Has anyone out there had success or failure with onBar, ISM, Tru64 and IDS 7.3x ? Thanks for any responses. John Goodbody
Thanks to David and Shehla, we were indeed using the rewind device driver. All works well with no rewind!
