esql , begin and commit probs
Posted in 2000
hi all, i written a prog that creates a cursor and loads data into from a table. I then go thru this cursor and create new cursors of data from other tables. At the end I try and update the table from which the original data was obtained. This works fine until i say begin work; update table; commit work; at this point the program only updates one row and doesn't return so that the next row in the original cursor can be processed. The code runs fine if I dont use begin and commit, or if i put the begin before the first cursor and the commit after it has completed. Is there any way of going thru a cursor and effectivly begining and commiting for each row or am i just barking mad? ps. please help me as it is my birthday and i'm not drunk yet :) -- John Horton DBA Cognito (Informix on Linux) john.horton@cognito.co.uk sysadmin and mahjongg player use Tk;$mw=tkinit;$t='yet_another_perl_hacker!';$a=0;$c=$mw->Canvas(-width=>155,-height=>15);$c->create('text',80,9,-text=>$t);$c->pack();$c->CanvasBind('<Motion>'=>sub{my($x,$y)=($Tk::event->x,$Tk::event->y);$x=int(rand($mw->screenheight));$y=int(rand($mw->screenwidth));$mw->geometry("+$x+$y");$a++;if($a==5){exit;}});MainLoop;
