HELP NEEDED!
Posted in 1994
I'm about on my last leg with a certain informix problem.. I am using version 4.0, and here is the situation the database is called "cdb", and it contains about 50 tables whose owner is "root" the "cdb" resides in a directory called /usr/scottm/db (that's where "cdb.dbs" directory is). each of these sublevels (i.e. scottm, db, cdb.dbs, has rw access for scottm and fellow group members. i.e. -rw-rw---), and scottm is a member of group "DMS" the ownership of all database related files is 'scottm', and the groups are all 'DMS', except for /usr/scottm/cdb/cdb.dbs, which is owner 'scottm' and group 'informix' (althogh the directory is mode 777) my problem is this: the user 'scottm' can see and use the database fine, but I wish to grant DBA priveleges to another user 'udmsmgr'. I have done so using the root account, and the file sysusers.dat reflects this after the isql command seems to execute fine (i.e. "GRANT DBA TO udmsmgr" works fine) however, the user 'udmsmgr' is still unable to access the database. even though DBPATH is set to /usr/scottm/db ..and.. DBNAME is set to /usr/scottm/db/cdb or even when the user 'udmsmgr' does a cd /usr/scottm/db and then runs isql. The account cannot access the database.. connect to it, zilch is there some tricky permissions / accesses thing I am missing here? I'd appreciate any and all suggestions and help, as I am at the end of my rope! Thanks much, Scott Miller p.s. if it's of any help, I'm running the system on an SCOUNIX machine.. thanks again --------- Fake .sig follows: The opinions expressed here are mine and probably nobody else's. blah blah blah
